PATRON HAAMEEO ADVOCATES FOR GRASSROOTS TALENTS HUNT
Aishatu Indo gave the charge when officials of HAAMEEO went round schools in Suleja Emirate comprising Gurara, Suleja and Tafa to evaluate the state of preparations for the competition.
She admonished the school counsellors to look beyond the glamour of the competition and ensure that the contents of the reference material is being taught to the learners across all levels in line with the inclusive education policy of the state government.
Aishatu Indo Abubakar informed that HAAMEEO’s choices of the children’s version of the United Nation convention on the Rights of the child as reference materials for the Quiz and Spelling competition is meant to educate the pupils, parents, teachers and general public on the awareness of the right of children.
The coordinator of the HAAMEEO, Abubakar Muhammed Alhaji noted that the first phase of the competition is scheduled to commence on the seventeenth of November in Suleja local government and it is to end on the third of December in Gurara local government with about twenty pupils participating from each local government area.
The second phase will be the semi finals and grand finally scheduled for February next year where the grand winner will go home with grand prizes. In their separate remarks, Education Secretaries and Heads of Sections of Guidance and Counselling departments in Gurara, Suleja and Tafa local government education authorities expressed readiness of their schools to participate in the competition and commended HAAMEEO for bringing such initiatives to the Emirate.
HAAM Education and Empowerment Outreach is the brain child of Honourable Haruna Arafat Abubakar Magaji, Supervisory permanent Member of departments of Guidance and Counseling & Academic Services Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, NSUBEB and Aspirant House Representatives for Gurara, Suleja and Tafa Federal Constituencies.
