CHANGE OF COMMAND: MAJ GEN MOHAMMED ABDULLAHI ASSUMES COMMAND AS 40TH COMMANDER CORPS OF SIGNALS

Following the recent posting in the Nigerian Army, the new Commander Corps of Signals (CCS) has emerged. He is Major General Mohammed Abdullahi, he took over the command as 40th CCS in handing and taking over ceremony between him and the immediate past CCS, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo. The historic event was held on 5 November 2025, at the Murtala Mohammed House, Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals, Lagos. This marked a significant transition of leadership within the Corps, known for its critical role in providing reliable communication support to the Nigerian Army.
In his remarks, the immediate past CCS, Major General Ugbo expressed profound satisfaction at handing over the mantle of leadership to a seasoned and capable Signals officer. He noted that the Corps is “in better hands,” having witnessed tremendous progress during his tenure.
Major General Ugbo highlighted that several milestones were achieved under his command, particularly in enhancing communication infrastructure, personnel training, administration and operational efficiency. He commended the officers and soldiers of the Corps for their dedication, cooperation and unflinching support, which contributed to the successes recorded. While congratulating his successor on his well-deserved appointment, he urged the officers to extend the same level of loyalty and commitment to the Commander. He wished Major General Abdullahi a successful and impactful tour of duty.
In his maiden remarks, the CCS, Major General Mohammed Abdullahi, lauded the meritorious service and outstanding leadership of his predecessor, describing his tenure as an era marked by professionalism, dedication and innovation. He acknowledged the significant strides made in capacity building, operational readiness and modernization of the Corps under his watch.
Major General Abdullahi further stated that he would continue to draw from the wealth of experience and guidance of his predecessor to consolidate on the achievements recorded. He therefore urged for the continued cooperation and support of officers and soldiers of the Corps, assuring them of purposeful and quality leadership that would sustain the tradition of excellence for which the Corps of Signals is known.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, staff officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army Signals, who witnessed the symbolic exchange of command flag between the two Commanders. The event also featured signing of handing and taking over notes, lowering and hoisting of command flag and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
